Talking Top Tens: Laura Bronner

Co-Founder, Gloss48

Laura Bronner is the co-founder of Gloss48 – a daily dose of the best indie beauty products to discover and shop. Prior to revolutionizing online beauty, Laura developed upscale nail and waxing concepts at MiniLuxe (Boston), Nail Bar (Chicago), and Trim (Chicago). A big fan of women entrepreneurs, Laura holds an MBA from Kellogg School of Management and a BA from Duke University. She is an avid Duke Basketball fan, mom to a ruggedly-handsome, loud-mouthed boy named Owen, peanut butter connoisseur, and runner (so that she can eat more peanut butter). And, while you’re here, want to make 2015 your glowiest year yet? We’ve partnered with BeautyBooked and Gloss48 to giveaway $200 in products and salon & spa services. Enter here for a chance to win!

Your biggest fashion faux pas, or a regrettable purchase:

I would like to call a fashion do-over for pretty much all of eighth grade. Early 90s fashion was not kind – bodysuits, flannel shirts, high-waisted jeans...

What do you love most about your work?

I love working with indie beauty brands because the founders are so passionate and inspiring. They are a constant reminder that I need to embrace the thrill and freedom of being an entrepreneur.

One piece of advice you would give your 18 year old self:

Go through life with a “how can I help you” attitude. It will make life a lot more fun - and create an invaluable virtuous cycle.

Midnight snack of choice:

Cheddar fries. Said the Chicagoan...

Your dream dinner party guest:

I love SNL cast member Kate McKinnon. We’re my head...

Skincare product you can’t live without:

I am one of those lucky ladies with adult acne and wrinkles. My moisturizer, Vertere, cleared up my skin overnight, fights wrinkles, and has SPF 15.

Go-to workout song on your most recent playlist:

I’m going through a Beyoncé phase – anything from Destiny’s Child to Drunk in Love. She’s such a bada$$!

Your last great read and why you enjoyed it:

I’m not sure if it qualifies as my “last great read”, but I read The Skimm newsletters religiously. They are frequently the highlight of my commute!

The trend you hope never goes out of style:

Selfishly, I would love to see the natural/full brows trend to stick around (thank you, Cara Delevingne) because I hate plucking/waxing/threading. At a minimum, let’s all vow to never, ever pluck/wax/thread to the point where we have to pencil our brows back on our faces!
