Talking Top Tens: Theresa Krier

Founder, Big T NYC

Theresa Krier created Big T NYC with a mission to modernize and elevate the traditional tea experience. It all started when she was backstage at New York Fashion Week and noticed the models were thirsty but wouldn’t touch the available sodas – they understandably disliked the bloating and unnecessary chemicals. Inspired by this dilemma, Theresa decided to create a delicious, all-natural beverage that would help people stay beautiful, hydrated and focused in any situation. That no-bloat beverage is tea, which is naturally hydrating, calorie-free and full of beauty-boosting antioxidants. Since its debut, Big T NYC has become a staple at NY Fashion Week & has developed a loyal following. Big T NYC’s unique take on the ancient beverage has earned the attention of extensive press and Theresa was named one of Entrepreneur Magazine’s 15 Female Entrepreneurs to Watch in 2015. And more with Theresa Krier…

What do you love most about your work?

Creating a product that adds a touch of quality to people’s lives while improving their health and overall wellness. Business built around improving the lives of others. I also like being my own boss.

Skincare product you can’t live without:

Facial oil because my skin gets really dry. I swear by Josie Maran’s 100% Argan oil.

Your motto in life:

Set a goal and go get it, take it all. No one is going to hand it to you.

The beauty product found in your bag at all times:

Lip gloss. I’m not too picky on the brand, but it must be sheer.

The pair of jeans you will never grow tired of:

Nail color currently on your hands and feet:

I prefer to have different colors on my hands and feet. No matchy-matchy for me. Right now I have Butter London’s Yummy Mummy (a simple but amazing beige) on my hands, and Ruby Murray (a vampy, blood red) on my toes.

Charity/charities you support:

I support a variety of charities, specifically those that help make the world a better, more beautiful place. I’m currently creating a tea that will benefit breast cancer research, inspired by two of my aunts who are survivors.

Your (real life) hero and why:

My parents. They were both entrepreneurs and somehow managed to accomplish everything they set out to do in life, while loving every moment. They are the type of people I strive to be and my inspiration to live my life to the fullest every day.

Cocktail of choice:

A tea-infused cocktail. My cousin created the most amazing cocktail that he serves at his bar: Hendricks Gin, Big T NYC Baby it’s Cold Outside organic black tea-infused syrup, fresh lemon and lavender. It’s complex, delicious and (bonus!) has healthy antioxidants.

Your longest lasting friendship?

Celia Grebs. We’ve been best friends since kindergarten, and she was my first business partner (we started a jewelry making business in the fifth grade). We have very different lives now, and live on opposite sides of the country, but share a special bond that comes from life long friendship, which I absolutely cherish.
