I don’t like to be too hard and fast about fashion “rules,” because that’s no fun. Think of these as friendly guidelines instead, and guideline number one is that resort casual clothing typically includes happy colors and relaxing neutrals. Lean into vibrant hues and ethereal pastels, like tangerine orange or butter yellow (yeah, that’s still trendy right now).

Please don’t shy away from patterns! Tight jeans? Fitted jackets? Bulky belts? Hard pass. What is resort casual attire if not a chance to sink into leisure and comfort while you’re on vacation? Leave the bodycon dresses in your closet and opt for loose, flowy, even billowing styles that are just as cozy as your favorite PJs.
