What was the inspiration behind rewardStyle:
rewardStyle was built out of my own need. I launched a blog, Venzedits.com, in 2010 as a marketing tool for my offline business, personal shopping.
I quickly learned that my audience preferred to use my recommendations to shop online at their convenience, instead of booking and paying for time with me. I needed to be compensated for the sales I drove online and that was the impetus for rewardStyle.
What do you love most about your work:
As a creative, I love that I get to spend so much of my day brainstorming big ideas and having a fantastic team in place to execute them. I also like being able to create a work environment that makes people excited, inspired, and comfortable. As an entrepreneur, you get to set culture in this way and that is an irreplaceable feeling.
How has the world of influencer marketing changed throughout the year and how has it impacted your business:
As an influencer, you can create content with the phone that is already in your bag, attract an audience on a free publishing platforms that facilitate discovery and follower growth, and get paid for waking up every day and creating compelling content. These influencers now represent the majority of content consumed and they encourage shopping online, making it convenient and accessible for their audiences.
Describe your typical work day:
I rarely have a typical day. I am either in the rewardStyle office taking meetings with the team or I’m traveling to one of our other 6 global offices or doing a speaking engagement. I never know where my day will take me.
One piece of advice you would give your 18 year-old-self:
If I could give any piece of advice to my younger self, it would be to listen more than you speak.
Your most treasured piece of clothing in your closet:
My husband has given me the most beautiful necklace and ring in honor of each of our children’s births with their names on them. They are my most cherished pieces and it helps that they go with every outfit.
You decompress each day by:
Being home with the kids. Since Baxter and I work together, we make a conscious effort to leave work at the office and be present when we are with our children.
Share your biggest guilty pleasure:
Nerd ropes and Diet Dr. Pepper! You’ll never catch me in a meeting without one or the other.
What apps and gadgets can’t you live without:
I’m admittedly pretty addicted to my iPhone! I use it for everything, but my favorite apps are all about adding convenience to my life—
