From a young age, Christen Dominique had a strong interest in color. From painting to experimenting with her mother's makeup, Christen understood the transformative power of cosmetics which led to her passion for makeup artistry.
While being a mom, working, and attending school full-time, Christen started privately experimenting with YouTube videos upon request of family, friends, and co-workers asking for makeup tips and her tricks of the trade. Because of her uplifting personality and willingness to be vulnerable, Christen’s makeup video side project turned into an inspiring fun channel where Christen could share her skills and inspire fans to be creative and confident.
The launch of Dominique Cosmetics is the next chapter for Christen where her childhood dreams of color are realized. The Latte Palette—inspired by her ritual coffee that she shares with her mom and now with her fans, who start their day with her sharing their morning coffees and lifting each other up with positivity on their social channels—is the first of many luxurious unique products to come.

What inspired you to start your YouTube channel:

I started my YouTube channel as a way to express myself. I've always been very passionate about makeup and helping others and YouTube was a great way to achieve both! It was also a great outlet for me to just be me.

Ever since I bought my first high end palette, I immediately knew I wanted to create my own multi-tasking palette. I first launched my line with a face palette and blush. While developing my line, it is always important to me to create "approachable" products for everyone from a beginner to a makeup artist.

Biggest challenge you've faced in your career and how did you overcome it:

The biggest challenge that I've had to face in my career so far is time and learning how to balance family life and social media. Now that I've found a balance it's easier to dedicate an even amount of time to both.

My ultimate favorite product from Dominique Cosmetics is the Latte Palette. It's so versatile to use on both your eyes and face. Most of the shades are neutral so I can use it every day, but it also contains some pops of color to create a more glam look for at night.

Walk us through a typical work day:
Christen
A typical work day starts with coffee then I check the agenda for the day and hop on a conference call to discuss current or future products. I also always have to check social media and then go to the studio to film a video.

My husband has had the biggest impact on my career. He has believed in me from the start and has invested his life and energy into making my dream a reality.
