Lauren Bush Lauren is the founder and CEO of FEED, an impact-driven lifestyle brand, making products that help feed the children of the world. A native of Texas, Lauren attended Princeton University where she majored in Anthropology. As a sophomore, Lauren had the opportunity to travel with the UN World Food Programme. While visiting regions across Central America, Asia, and Africa, Lauren witnessed firsthand the realities of poverty and hunger that people are facing all over the world. Using this experience as an inspiration, Lauren founded FEED as a tangible way for her peers to make an impact in fighting childhood hunger. She lives in New York City with her husband and two sons.

How did you get started in your career and what inspired the idea behind FEED:
Lauren
As a student, I had the opportunity to travel with the UN World Food Programme, which was a really eye-opening experience for me. Afterward, I was so driven to find a way to make a difference in the lives of people, especially children, who are faced with the realities of hunger every single day, while also pursuing my interest in fashion and design.

The impact we have been able to make and of course, our incredible FEED community – one cannot and would not exist without the other. The way our customers have rallied around an issue like hunger, that can seem massive, and have created a community of positivity, kindness, and empowerment has truly been the most rewarding thing to watch and take part in.

One piece of advice you would give your 18-year-old-self:

Be courageous when listening to, and acting on, your intuition – it rarely steers you wrong.

First thing you do in the morning:
Lauren
Go to my boys' rooms. Seeing their sweet, sleepy faces in the morning is the best wake-up.

You decompress each day by:

Playing with my kids and then, once they are asleep, my husband and I will watch a fun TV show or an old movie.

Share your biggest guilty pleasure:
Lauren
Instagram is my biggest guilty pleasure because it is highly addictive and voyeuristic. My second is probably ice cream or dark chocolate.

Describe your personal style:
Lauren
My personal style is classic with a touch of bohemian. I love wearing things that are comfortable, flattering and not overly fussy or trendy–essentially, clothes that make me feel more confident and most like myself.

What apps and gadgets can’t you live without:
Lauren
I cannot live without my iPhone, my Kindle (with a backlight so I can read at night in the dark and fall asleep), and Google maps as I am constantly mapping my daily routes and trying to get places quicker and more efficiently.

What’s the most exciting thing in your life right now:
Lauren
The most exciting in my life right now is being a Mama to two sweet boys, as well as a CEO of a company with a mission I still feel very passionate about over a decade later. Life is very full right now, and I am just trying to soak it all in as best I can.

What do you love most about your work:
Lauren
[FEED] is my first baby. I love what I do and 12 years in, there’s still so much to do and so much potential with FEED. It’s fun and it keeps you on your toes.
