Walmart+ normally costs $98 a year or $12.95 a month, but two cheaper ways to join are available right now. The first is a limited-time offer that gets you a full year for $49 instead of $98 and requires no eligibility check. The second is a $1 trial that lasts 30 days, so instead of paying upfront for a year, you can pay just $1 to try Walmart+ before deciding whether to stick with it. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, you'll automatically be charged for whichever monthly or annual plan you selected.

Students and Government Assistance Recipients Get 50% Off

College and graduate students, along with people who receive government assistance through programs like SNAP, WIC, or Medicaid, can get Walmart+ for $49 a year or $6.47 a month. That's half the regular price, and it's available year-round, not just for a limited time.The sign-up process is the same for both groups. You'll verify your eligibility, then choose a monthly or annual plan, both offered at 50% off, and start with a free 30-day trial before you're charged anything. If you're verifying through government assistance, there's no credit check involved, and it won't affect your existing benefits.

Beyond the discount on membership itself, Walmart+ comes with a long list of perks that can add up to real savings if you actually use them. Here's what's included.

Free Delivery on Groceries, Pharmacy Orders, and More

Walmart+ members get free delivery from their local store on orders of $35 or more. This covers groceries as well as other items your store carries. Orders under $35 come with a $6.99 fee instead. You'll pick a delivery time slot at checkout, with options as early as 7 a.m. and as late as 8 p.m. depending on your store, and delivery can arrive as soon as the same day. If you want it even faster, members save up to $9.95 on the total fees for Express Delivery.

Prescription orders work differently. Pharmacy deliveries are free with no $35 minimum at all, so even a small order qualifies. Just keep two things in mind: not every medication is eligible, and this perk doesn't apply if you're using InHome, Walmart's premium service where an employee brings your delivery inside and puts it away for you.

Free Shipping on Walmart.com Orders

This is different from store delivery. Shipping applies to items sent directly by Walmart from a warehouse rather than your local store, and it's free for members no matter how small your order is, including next-day and two-day shipping. The main things that don't qualify for free shipping are oversized items, freight items, and most products sold by independent businesses through Walmart's Marketplace (Walmart's platform for third-party sellers).

You can also mix delivery and shipping in the same order without any trouble. Anything shipped by Walmart will always be free for members, while anything coming from your local store still needs to hit that $35 minimum to skip the delivery fee.

Free Returns From Your Doorstep

Members can return eligible items without leaving home. Just schedule a pickup, and a Walmart driver will collect the item right from your door. There's no need to repack the item or print a label first.

This perk does have a few limits. It's only available in select locations, and it only applies to eligible purchases. You'll also need to be home when the driver arrives.

Save 10 Cents Per Gallon on Gas

Walmart+ members save 10 cents per gallon at Exxon and Mobil stations, or 5 cents per gallon in Alabama and Oklahoma. Select Walmart and Murphy stations offer savings of up to 10 cents per gallon as well, and Sam's Club fuel centers offer member pricing. There's no limit on how many gallons qualify, and the discount works on every fuel type.

To get the discount, open the Walmart app before you start pumping. At Exxon or Mobil, pay at the pump with the card linked to your Walmart+ account. At the other stations, you can pay at the pump or go inside and pay a cashier with cash or a card. Just remember to bring your phone, since the app is required to apply the discount.

Earn 5% Cash Back with the OnePay CashRewards Card

The OnePay CashRewards Card gives Walmart+ members unlimited 5% cash back on every Walmart purchase, compared with 3% for non-members. You'll also earn 1.5% cash back on all other purchases, and there's no annual fee.

And for a limited time, new cardholders can also earn a $35 cash back welcome bonus after applying and getting approved. Approval for the card is subject to credit.

Switching to the ad-free version of the other service still requires waiting out your 90-day window first.

Trial members get access to this perk too, though only paid Walmart+ members can purchase an upgrade to an ad-free plan.

Earn Up to 10% Walmart Cash on Travel Bookings

Walmart+ members can earn Walmart Cash by booking trips through Walmart+ Travel, powered by Expedia. Hotel bookings, vacation packages, car rentals, tours, and activities all earn 10% Walmart Cash, while air travel earns 2%. Non-members can book through the same site, but only Walmart+ members earn Walmart Cash on their bookings.

Your Walmart Cash shows as pending until your trip is complete, then becomes available to redeem 30 days later. Once it's yours, it doesn't expire, and it can be used on future Walmart purchases or redeemed for cash back.

Get Early Access to Black Friday and Other Sales

Walmart+ members get early access to deals during major sales events like Black Friday, ahead of the general public. This perk is online only and available while supplies last. It's reserved for paid members specifically, so free trial members don't get access to it.

Save 25% Daily on Burger King Orders

Walmart+ members can save on Burger King through a linked Royal Perks account. The benefit includes 25% off one mobile order per day with a $5 minimum, plus a free Whopper with any purchase once every three months.

To use this perk, link your Walmart+ membership to a new or existing BK Royal Perks account through your Walmart+ member hub. The 25% discount only applies to mobile orders placed through the BK app or website for pickup, drive-through, delivery, or curbside, not in-restaurant orders. The free Whopper can be redeemed in-restaurant or through a mobile order using your Royal Perks ID.

Get Free Flat Tire Repair at Walmart Auto Care Centers

Active Walmart+ members get free flat tire repair at Walmart Auto Care Centers, along with other auto care savings. The catch is that the tire needs to have been purchased and installed at a Walmart Auto Care Center while you were a member, so it won't apply to tires from somewhere else. This perk also isn't available in New York.

Get Free 24/7 Access to Licensed Vets

Through Pawp, Walmart+ members can connect with licensed veterinary professionals by text or video any time of day. The membership includes unlimited virtual visits for up to six dogs or cats. This perk is included at no extra cost and saves you $99 compared to a standalone Pawp membership. Pawp also offers an optional Emergency Fund add-on for $19 a month, billed separately, that covers up to $3,000 a year in pet emergencies. Keep in mind Pawp is only available through its mobile app, so you won't be able to use it on desktop.

Skip the Checkout Line with Scan & Go

Scan & Go lets you shop and pay right from your phone using the Walmart app. As you shop, you scan each item and add it to your cart. When you're ready, you pay directly in the app and skip the checkout line entirely.

This works at every Walmart location, no matter how many items you're buying. You don't need store WiFi to use it, but it's worth keeping location services on so other app features, like Walmart Pay and item finder, work properly too.

Scan & Go can also earn you Walmart Cash. Just check the offer box for any eligible manufacturer offers in the app before you check out. On your way out, you'll go through self-checkout and scan the QR code from the app to get your receipt. Walmart's Resold section covers everything from electronics and tools to fashion, beauty, and baby gear, and prices run well below new. Items fall into two categories, restored and pre-owned, and knowing the difference can help you pick the right one for what you need.

Restored items are professionally inspected, tested, and cleaned, and they're verified to work properly before they're resold.
