Turning 40 didn't come with a memo about what I'm supposed to wear, and I'm glad, because I never would've read it anyway. The only real shift in how I dress now is that I've stopped negotiating with clothes—if something pinches, rides up, or needs constant adjusting, it's out, no matter how good it looks on the hanger. What I want is simple: easy, comfortable, put together.
Athleta has become one of the brands I reach for most, not because it's "athletic" in the technical sense, but because it understands that comfort and looking pulled together aren't opposites. Their leggings don't need to be tugged back into place every ten minutes, their tops layer well under a blazer for meetings, and the fabrics feel like they were made by someone who's also tired of clothes that fight back. This is a running list of what's currently in my own Athleta cart.
